Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts
August 01, 2012 | by Dana Collins
Today I am grateful for the ability to text! It has been wonderful to hear from Rachel in Nicaragua each evening at the end of her day. Jeep however is somewhere in the mountains or on an island where communication is impossible. That’s okay because he is smack-dab in the middle of God’s will as he exercises his spiritual gift of evangelism! Some years back he discovered this gift and ever since he has been practicing it whenever he can. He will tell you that just because he discovered his gift didn’t mean he was automatically good at it. (This, I believe, is often a misconception that we Christians have about gifts.) What I have seen in Jeep is a persistence in seeking God’s will and sticking to the path God has put before him in taking every opportunity he sees to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost.
There is a saying, pertaining to tough tasks, in our family that Jeep has used as long as the kids and I can remember, “If it were easy, everybody would be doing it.” Discovering God’s will and your spiritual gift isn’t easy. It takes lots of time studying His Word, praying and putting into practice what you learn.
Thanks you for your prayers for Jeep and the team in Nicaragua.
Love,
Dana
